Your Gateway to Clinical Collaboration

Whether you are a medical practice, hospital, hospital network, or university medical center, we collaborate with clinical partners who are committed to developing, evaluating, and implementing medical innovations. Together, we translate clinical needs into research and development projects – from the initial clinical question to clinical validation.

We provide access to specialized research infrastructure, realistic operating room environments, and interdisciplinary expertise. Our services include contract research and development, training programs at the Lübeck Innovation Hub for Robotic Surgery (LIROS), study and testing partnerships, as well as regulatory support for clinical investigations.

We particularly value partnerships in which clinical expertise, data, and real-world perspectives are integrated into the development process from an early stage. This enables the creation of solutions that are technically robust, regulatorily compliant, and relevant to everyday clinical practice.

Research Partnerships and Clinical Studies

We collaborate with clinical partners who contribute clinical needs, data, and practical experience to joint research and development projects. These partnerships enable the evaluation, refinement, and validation of new medical technologies under real-world conditions.

Training and Evaluation at LIROS

At LIROS, surgical procedures, assistance systems, and robotic applications can be trained and evaluated in a realistic operating room environment. Depending on the project requirements, studies can be conducted with or without human anatomical specimens, including body donors where appropriate.

Clinical Validation and Regulatory Support

We support clinical partners and development projects with study design, regulatory strategy, clinical investigation planning, and evidence generation. Our expertise covers MDR/IVDR requirements, patient safety, and the generation of clinical evidence to facilitate successful translation into routine clinical practice.

Competence Centers

The combination of our expertise in electronics, mechanics, computer science, manufacturing processes, and regulatory affairs is a particular strength of research at Fraunhofer IMTE.

Platforms

Our six platforms ensure that the solutions we develop are implemented quickly and reliably.
